Jigawa State Government has disclosed that some teachers said to have gone for in-service courses in universities across the world, have graduated but has since refused to report to their place of work.

The action of those teachers compelled the government to further suspend indefinitely in-service training courses and set up special committee to find those involved and other teachers receiving salaries without coming to work, Vanguard reports.

The government was furious that the teachers betrayed its trust by remaining abroad when their expertise was needed back home.

Lamenting the development, the Head of Service, Mohammed Inuwa Tahir, told journalists yesterday that some workers spent 14 to 15 years studying.

He said: What kind of degree course does a worker spend 15 years studying and still collecting salaries. Our government will not condone laziness and unfair act by some workers who have the habit of completing their study and refusing to report back to their place of work.

The officials said the screening committee was established to fish out absentees and ghost workers, contrary to some insinuations that it was set up to witch-hunt workers.

London-based John Ashbourne - an Emerging Markets Analyst for China and Africa - is not here for Buhari and APC's unfulfilled election campaign promises.

Usman Bugaje, an ambassadorial nominee from Kastina state, has turned down his appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Bugaje is the second nominee to reject the offer, after Pauline Tallen, former deputy governor of Plateau state, turned it down as well.

While Tallen publicly declined her appointment - Bugaje however was urged by top government officials not to announce his rejection of the offer in the media.

Why Pauline Tallen Rejected Her Appointment
Tallen had rejected her nomination on the grounds that there was no proper consultation. She had also explained that her decision was done in fairness to other parts of the state.

She said that she turned down the ambassadorial slot in order to be fair to other parts of the state in terms of federal appointments.

Mrs. Tallen, who is also a former Minister of Science and Technology and Labour Party governorship candidate in Plateau in 2011, made this known in Abuja on Monday.

I hail from the same local government and tribe with Gov. Simon Lalong. I turned down the nomination because of balancing of appointments, I dont think it is right for me to accept the appointment, she said.

Secondly, proper consultation was not done, my governor was not consulted because I called him when he was in United States of America to ask but he said that he was not aware. For me, I was consulted and I turned down the appointment even before the announcement was made, Mrs. Tallen said.

She also cited her husbands poor health.

My husbands ill-health is another reason why I will not accept the appointment, she said.

Mrs. Tallen, who was nominated last week by President Muhammadu Buhari, alongside 45 others, said the president gave her another option and also assured her that Plateau would not miss its two slots.

Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Reuben Abati, was yesterday questioned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over alleged cash taken from office of the embattled National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, retd.

Abati, who arrived the EFCC on Formella Street, Wuse 2 in Abuja, was questioned by the operatives on the various sums of money he allegedly collected from the ONSA. The former presidential spokesman was still being quizzed as at the time of filing the report and it was not immediately clear when Abati would be freed.

We invited Abati to our office to clear the air on the records before us that he received at various times various sums of money from the ONSA and we want him to furnish us with the details of the payment and the purposes of such disbursements, an operative told Vanguard last night.

One of the vouchers from the ONSA shows that he collected N50 million from the office but we want him to justify why he received money from the $2.1 billion meant for arms purchase to fight insurgents. There are many vouchers attributed to the former Presidential spokesman but we will take them one after the other until we get satisfactory answers from him, he said.

Abati came on his volition based on our invitation and our operatives are talking to him as we speak, the source said around 8pm on Monday.

Abati last week wrote a piece suggesting that forces of darkness prevailing at the Presidential Villa were responsible for the lack of progress in the land, a write-up that had elicited prompt reaction from his successor, Femi Adesina, and other commentators.

Abati had painted the picture that the apparent difficulty in the land was due to the spiritual forces which cast spell on the occupants of the Presidential Villa.

Femi Fani-Kayode allegedly slumped yesterday at the premises of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) - where he is being held over money laundering charges - just as his family has raised alarm over fear for his life.

Fani- Kayodes Media Adviser, Jude Ndukwe, claimed the former Aviation Minister passed out while in EFCC custody.

However in a quick rebuttal, the EFCC dismissed Ndukwes claims, saying there was no truth whatsoever to them.

EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren said: There is no truth whatsoever in the dubious and attention-seeking alarm that Fani-Kayode slumped and was revived by EFCC medical personnel. There was nothing like that as the said Fani-kayode and Obanikoro sat together and enjoyed their jokes at the first round of checks of inmates in EFCC custody on Monday night."

A statement yesterday by Fani- Kayodes Special Adviser, Media, Jude Ndukwe read:

When Chief Femi Fani-Kayode was rearrested on Friday, 21st of October, 2016, in the premises of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, we raised a number of issues which included that the re-arrest was not only unnecessary but that it was also reckless.

We made known our fears that Fani-Kayodes life was in dire danger as long as he remained in EFCC custody or in the custody of any agency of the federal government based on discreet information available to us. This is apart from the fact that his health has been badly affected since his incarceration for a whopping 67 days based on some questionable detention orders.

This fact is well known to the EFCC as Fani-Kayodes lawyers have written several letters to the Commission reminding them of the health conditions of the former minister of aviation (Kindly see attached). It is therefore shocking that having known these facts, the EFCC still acted in a most unprofessional and crude way by re-arresting a man who has never been known to turn down their invitation even for once, who was since granted administrative bail by the same Commission after meeting the stringent conditions set by them; a man who is also supposed to be on bail as granted by the courts after fulfilling the conditions, and who even has his international passport still lodged with the Commission.

Although Chief Femi Fani-Kayode was yet to complete the recovery therapy he was undergoing after spending the initial 67 grueling days in EFCC custody wherein he was also physically attacked by one of the Commissions agents, in deference to the law and the Commission, he painfully but willingly cut short his therapy and medical checks to attend court proceedings.

One would have thought that these were enough to convince EFCC that Fani-Kayode was very willing to face his persecutors in court. But rather than be humane in their conduct, EFCC hounded him for the umpteenth time on that fateful Friday and have since kept him in custody.

It is therefore little wonder that based on the history of his medical conditions which the Commission is very much aware of, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode slumped while in detention on Saturday, 22nd of October, 2016.

But for the quick and professional intervention of the medical team in the EFCC medical facilities, the story could have been different, it could have been fatal! We must commend the medical staff at the Commissions medical facility. They were prompt in their response, and very impressive in their care. It is very heartwarming to know that some professionals have not allowed the political witch hunt and persecution of political opponents and perceived enemies taint their professional calling. We hope this extends to all facets of the Nigerian society.

Nigerians would recall that we had earlier raised the alarm about the danger in which Fani-Kayodes life is right now; we are shocked that that danger rather than ebb away is becoming a reality slowly but steadily. If not, why re-arrest and keep him in detention when he has not failed to appear before the Commission or even before the courts at any time, neither has he ever been declared wanted?

The fresh charges for which he was said to have been re-arrested were presented to him over the weekend and they border on an alleged N26m which he was accused to have collected from the erstwhile NSA, Sambo Dasuki, and he has since signed for the charges while he waits for his day in court. So, why still detain him if there is no sinister motive behind it all?

From the foregoing, it is obvious that this issue about corruption is nothing but an already exposed faade for the silencing of opposition voices, and keep Fani-Kayode out of circulation as long as practicable since he is seen by many as one of the strongest voices against tyranny, oppression and executive lawlessness. For the avoidance of doubt, we reiterate our earlier warning that nothing untoward must happen to Chief Femi Fani-Kayode whether now or in the nearest future. Should anything happen to him, we can assure those responsible that there would be reactions of unimaginable propensity.

It is not all sacrifices that the gods accept. There are some sacrifices that even oracles reject for fear of untamable repercussions! Nigerians are watching and waiting!

The wife of the Rivers State Governor, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike has reacted to the recent comment by President Muhammadu Buhari that his wife belongs in his kitchen, Living room and the other room.
She backed the President, by saying that she belongs to the kitchen, the living room and every room created by God.

She was speaking at the 10th Biennial Diocesan Womens Guild Conference Thanksgiving Service of the Anglican Diocese of the Niger Delta North in Saint Thomas Anglican Church, Diobu, Port Harcourt on Sunday.

Justice Suzzette Nyesom-Wike said: All women have been through a lot as they strive to build the society. Our contributions to societal development cannot be underestimated. I belong to the kitchen, I belong to the living room and I belong to every room created by God. So also other women.

We are created by God to do more. In my own case as a judicial officer, I also belong to the courtroom. Other women belong to different rooms, depending on their professional calling. Women are very important to the development of any community. They form a larger percentage of the workforce that keeps the society, she added.

Recall that the President reactions was in response to an explosive interview his wife granted the BBC, where she stated that she may not back her husband at the next election .

In his response, the president, who was in Germany on a three-day visit laughed and replied, she belongs to my kitchen and living room.

No fewer than 48 workers have been allegedly sacked by Dangote Group due to the economic recession in the country. Vanguard gathered that those affected were 36 expatriate and 12 local staff serving in Dangote Cement Plc and Dangote Industries Limited.

Further findings showed that the reason for their sack was in connection with the current high cost of running business in the country, occasioned by unavailability of foreign exchange and the unprecedented hike in exchange rate. In a letter signed by the President/CEO, Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, dated October 20, 2016, Dangote stated that the group was constrained to take the tough decision because of the present high cost of production.

The letter, entitled Recent Retirement Exercise, however, appreciated those affected, thanking them for their contributions to the group.

The letter read in part:  This year has been a very challenging one for us as a business. The unavailability of foreign exchange, coupled with an unprecendented hike in exchange rate has resulted in increased costs across the organisation.

This called for a proper review and adjustment of our costs across board to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in the deployment of our factors of production in a bid to eliminate redundancy that we know exist, which resulted in some tough decisions which means losing staff, including some of our colleagues.

On Friday, October 14, 2016, we began the process of staff cutbacks as it is imperative to review our human capital deployment for required cutbacks that would ensure efficiency and eliminate redundancies in the allocation of human resources.

This first phase of this exercise involved the cutback of 36 expatriate staff across the Dangote Cement Plc and Dangote Industries Limited and 12 local staff in Dangote Industries Limited.

The group, however, promised that it would continue to review and restructure its human capital deployment to ensure optimal allocation of skill sets and size of workforce as an international organisation.

The group urged its workers to shun late coming, improper dressing and other unsavoury behaviours in the workplace.
Ekiti state Governor Ayodele Fayose, in a Channels interview reiterated his belief that the over 200 missing Chibok girls were not kidnapped by Boko Haram as widely believed. He said it's all propaganda. Watch his interview below.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Friday arrested a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, on new allegations of fraud. Fani-Kayode was arrested as he emerged from a courtroom where hes been facing separate money laundering charges since June.

Deji Adeyanju of PDP, confirmed the development saying: We were coming out of the court with Nenadi Usman and others when the EFCC officials said he must follow them to their office."

Fani-Kayodes arrest comes days after his wife, Precious Chikwendu, was reportedly detained in a bank in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, on allegations of running bank accounts that were under investigation.

Fani-Kayode had raised alarm on Thursday that the EFCC was plotting to arrest him as part of an alleged attempt by the government to silence him for remaining an unyielding voice of opposition.

His arrest is connected to the latest 17-count charge of money laundering to the tune of N4.9 billion filed by the EFCC in Abuja against him.

The wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun, has taken up the sponsorship of nine-year-old Korede Taiwo, the boy who was allegedly chained by his father for over a month. The sponsorship, it was gathered, would be from primary school to the university level.

Sugar Daily had earlier reported that on July 23 that Taiwo was allegedly chained by his father, Francis Taiwo, a pastor in the Ajibawo, Atan Ota area. It had also been reported that the boy was rescued inside his fathers church by policemen from the Onipanu division and operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

Francis, who is pastor of the Celestial Church of Christ, Key of Joy, in the Ajibawo area, had accused the boy of habitual stealing, saying his son needed deliverance.

The 40-year-old pastor had allegedly chained his son to the altar in the church for more than a month and starved him until he went into a coma, in an attempt to cast out the supposed spirit that made the boy to steal.

The father was thereafter arrested and transferred to the Ogun State Police Command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

The Director of Child Development Services, Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mr. Kehinde Egbeolowo, on Thursday in Abeokuta said the governors wife had taken up the sponsorship of Koredes education from primary school to the university level.

Egbeolowo said, Korede has been enrolled as a nursery one pupil in a private school with boarding facilities in the state.

He said the maltreatment meted out to Taiwo attracted Mrs. Amosuns attention.

Facebook user Rabe Nasir shared these images of properties reportedly owned by former Katsina Governor, Ibrahim Shema. He wrote: "If unmitigated insatiable greed has become a second nature to the insane, God willing, we shall continue to unravel the laundered illicit proceed even if with less intensity! A big farm, Girls hostels, one completed, the other under construction, for renting, opposite Law School, a site for a proposed gas station, all in Bwari (Fct) suspected to have been acquired with diverted Katsina State funds."

From the desk of Femi Fani-Kayode:

THE PLAN TO RE-ARREST AND DETAIN ME ONCE AGAIN BY THE EFCC
I have been reliably informed by my sources within the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that they are planning to re-arrest and detain me for as long as possible once again even though I have been granted bail by the Federal High Court in Lagos.

Fresh charges were filed against me by the EFCC at the Federal High Court in Abuja on July 7th. The allegations border on a baseless allegation and false claim that I received twenty six million naira from the NSA's office in 2014. These are politically-motivated charges and there is no truth in or substance to them whatsoever.

The case has been assigned to a judge and the date for arraignment has been set for 10th November before Justice Tsoho of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

My lawyers were in court for the original date of arraignment on the 14th of October but for some curious reason the EFCC did not show up on that day.

The matter was therefore adjourned till 10th November and my lawyers have given an undertaking to the Judge to ensure that I am in court on that day. They have also written to the EFCC to that effect and our letter was acknowledged by them.

Because of that the matter is now seized of the court yet the EFCC are still planning to arrest me probably at the premises of the Federal High Court in Lagos after I appear there on friday 21st October to attend my trial on the trumped up and, again, politically-motivated charges concerning the presidential campaign funds.

If they do not arrest me then they will arrest me and seek to detain me for as long as possible soon after that. Whichever way they will come and I am ready for them. I am not running.

The truth is that the EFCC are a ready, willing and able tool in the hands of the hawks and hardliners in the Buhari administration and they are apparantly acting on orders.

They are desperate to keep me out of circulation and off the streets and I have been reliably informed that they were ordered to ensure that that is the case by the Presidency.

They are also eager to arrest and detain my wife and my 8 month old son just to hurt and spite me even though they have done absolutely NOTHING wrong.

By the time I am in their custody they will start churning out all manner of garbage and lies to the media about me and my family and they will say all sorts of things about supposedly new matters which they have "just discovered" and "fresh allegations".

They will even claim that I have admitted to certain crimes, that I have been badly implicated and that I in turn have implicated other people. Please do NOT believe a word of these dirty lies when they start flowing. It is called disinformation and the EFCC indulge in it all the time.

That is their stock in trade and they will feed the press with all manner of garbage knowing that I am not there to defend myself, to set the record straight or to expose their fabrications.

That is their way. That is their style. They will say and do anything to demonise, humiliate, destroy, convict on the pages of newspapers and detain indefinately (with the aid of questionable detention orders from equally questionable magistrates and judges) those that they hate and all their perceived enemies.

Their plan is to attempt to justify keeping me off the streets for the next one month and even longer even though I am already out on court bail.

I have known about this evil plan for over one month now and I am not deterred. I am not scared or intimidated and I urge them to do their worse and let God judge between us.

The more evil they do to me, the more the coals of fire will pour on their heads. Also the more the President will continue to fail woefully and have all manner of strange and inexplicable problems. Wickedness and wicked men never last. No matter what they do to me that is my consolation. They are bullies and cowards and they have no shame.

My only crime is that I have spoken the bitter truth to power and I am very proud of that. That is what God created me to do. It is my calling and I stand by every word that I have ever said about this President and this evil, corrupt and inept government.

As long as there is life and breath in me I will continue to speak the truth and fight for a better Nigeria. This government is vicious, vengeful, inept and toxic and so is their willing tool the EFCC.
As I am in their cells and subjected to their barbaric torture and wicked and inhuman treatment for another period of time I shall continue to pray for Nigeria.

I shall also remain strong in my faith and continue to trust in my Lord.

I urge all those that believe in me, read my essays, follow my posts and share my vision and views to stay strong, to keep the flag flying, to fight a good fight and to never give up or falter despite the tyranny that we face and the fascists that we are confronted with.

They may have today but tomorrow belongs to us. In the end our God will rise up in His power and in His might and He will rid us of this evil and this terrible and accursed affliction.

In the end, despite all their lies, falsehood, misrepresentation, malevolence, malice and vicious persecution, we shall prevail because our God is mighty.

Therefore stand tall, stand strong and have no fear. For even though the night may be dark, joy comes in the morning.

I love you all and thank you for your continous prayers, love and support and for having faith in me. You humble, strengthen and inspire me. Every single one of you.

I go forth to carry my cross. I go forth to follow my calling. I go forth to walk into my glorious destiny. God bless u. Shalom.

Rebecca Ishaku, one of the 57 girls that escaped Boko Haram captivity when they were taken away from their school in April 2014 - is pictured dancing and jumping with excitement as she watched her classmates reuniting with their families after two years of abduction.

In the heartwarming footage, Rebecca can be heard screaming in excitement 'see them, see them" - as she danced while pointing towards the TV showing the released Chibok girls at their Thanksgiving service on Sunday, Oct 16.

Rebecca was among the 270 students abducted by Boko Haram militants in 2014. But she managed to escape in the hours following the mass kidnapping when she jumped off a truck.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested two persons for allegedly smuggling 325,640 and $30,000 ( making a total of about N175 million) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

Nicholas Edos and Prince Hallowell, returning from Austria and Greece respectively, were intercepted during an inward screening of passengers on a Turkish airline flight.

The NDLEA in a statement on Wednesday said the suspected laundered money was hidden inside envelopes and shoes. While Mr. Edos was caught with 279,190, Mr. Hallowell was found with 46,450 and $30,000.

But the suspects said they received the money from their Europe-based friends to give to their different families and relatives in Nigeria.

Muhammad Abdallah, Chairman of NDLEA, said the arrest was a suspected case of money laundering, adding that it had been handed over to Victoria Egbase, the Director of Assets and Financial Investigation of the agency, for further investigation.

Criminal groups seek to conceal the origin of illegally obtained money, said Mr. Abdallah, a retired colonel. It is pertinent therefore for us to trace the origin of the money and prevent the introduction of criminal funds into the economy. Consequently, I have directed that the case be meticulously investigated.

Preliminary investigation, according to the NDLEA, showed that both suspects are frequent travellers who are the target of International Drug Trafficking Organisations.

Besides, their sources of income must be verified, the agency said.

Mr. Edos, who said he was working in a bakery in Austria, said the money found on him did not belong to him.

I was given by different people in Europe to give to their relatives. I have been living in Vienna Austria for over 15 years, the NDLEA quoted Mr. Edos, who hails from Edo State, as saying.

The agency also quoted Mr. Hallowell as saying the money belonged to people sending money to their families back in Nigeria.

I live in Athens and I work in an African shop, Mr. Hallowell said in the statement.

I have lived there for 12 years. The money belongs to many people and some of them are my friends.

Mr. Abdallah said the cases would be thoroughly investigated and necessary action taken as laundered funds could be used to finance terrorism and distort the economy among others.
When Mrs Olubunmi Alabi went for a town hall meeting to openly air her frustrations on her inability to find a job in Nigeria - little did she know she'll walk away with an employment offer from the Lagos State Government.

During the meeting, Mrs Alabi told Governor Akinwunmi Ambode that she had no job - and has been unemployed since 2010. She said her passion lies within the sports ministry.

While responding to her query, Ambode ordered his Special Adviser on Sports, to get her details and offer her immediate employment within his ministry.

For the past two weeks, Donald Trump has been getting a ton of bad press mostly centred around his sexually perverse conversations about women. And you all thought he was going to back down? Nope. Now, it's time for him to clap back!

You know, we all have that one relative (or relatives) we're kinda ashamed to claim publicly. Welp. Trump has found Obama's.

Malik Obama, will be attending Wednesday night's third presidential debate as a special guest of Donald Trump. Malik, a Muslim with both Kenyan and US citizenship, has previously expressed his support for the Republican nominee.

Im excited to be at the debate. Trump can make America great again, Malik told the New York Post.

He also backed Trump over allegations from several women that the presidential candidate had sexually assaulted them in the past.

He said: I dont believe them. Why didnt they come forward before?

Trump, who has denied all allegation of sexual assault, said: I look very much forward to meeting and being with Malik. He gets it far better than his brother.

Trump also invited three of the women who accused former President Bill Clinton of sexually harassing or assaulting them years ago to the second presidential debate last week.

Malik Obama, 58, last met his famous half-brother in 2015.

I went to the White House to say hello. I paid a courtesy call. As usual, it was a hands-off kind of thing, very businesslike, very formal.

He said he had been a lifelong Democrat supporter, but had switched his allegiance over his "deep disappointment" with his brother's administration.

I like Donald Trump because he speaks from the heart. Make America Great Again is a great slogan," he said.

Malik Obama, who is three years older than his brother, himself attempted to run for office in Kenya in 2013, but lost his run for governor of Siaya county.
