A man who was allegedly held captive for 20 years in the basement of his father and step-mother's house, was too traumatised to speak after being filmed shortly after his release from the torturous experience.

Armando de Andrade, who disappeared when he was 16, was found tied to a bed in a tiny, windowless room by police searching houses for drugs gang members, it's reported.

Witnesses said the man, now aged 36, had "enormous" toenails and fingernails and a long beard which had grown to his knees while police said he was "malnourished".

Detectives in Sao Paulo, Brazil, believe he lived in virtual darkness for two decades in a room without light fittings, while the floor was reportedly covered in human faeces. Police chief Celso Marchiori, who is investigating the case, said of the moment policemen found him:

"He got up, very impaired and didn't speak a word. We took him outside and he still didn't say anything. We didn't know if he was scared or drugged. He wasn't able to identify us as police officers. We called for help and he was taken straight to hospital. It's difficult to believe he was in that place for 20 years. It's a very insanitary place, he wouldn't have survived. There's no light at all."

Neighbours in the Guarulhos district of Sao Paulo, southeast Brazil, recalled how Armando was a normal 16-year-old, who liked skateboarding and playing the guitar, when he suddenly disappeared.

Never seen again by his friends, Armando's family always claimed he had moved to another part of Brazil and was "doing well".

One neighbour, Aparecido Rocha Brasil, said he believed the teenager's father and step-mother decided to lock him in the room after he started experimenting with alcohol.

Armando's father Amancio de Andrade denied the allegations, claiming that his son left home aged 18 and returned last week, and asked him to lock him in the room as he wanted to get clean from drug addiction.

Armando is being cared for in the psychiatric ward a local hospital, where he is reportedly to traumatised to speak.

A video of a friend talking with him shows the man only able to nod or shake his head to respond to questions.

Police have launched an investigation while Armando's father and step-mother, who have not yet been arrested, have reportedly fled their home following aggression from angry neighbours.

A Georgia teenager has survived a life-threatening head injury on the soccer pitch that put him in a coma and when he woke up, he was only speaking fluent Spanish.

Via DailyMail.com
A high school goalie, who is still suffering from a third concussion that nearly killed him, woke up from a coma speaking fluent Spanish.

Rueben Nsemoh was playing soccer last month for an elite Gwinnett County national team when he dived for the ball and another player kicked him in the head, WSB TV reported.

The Georgia teen was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center, where he spent several days in a coma.

When he finally woke up, his mother, Dorah Nsemoh, told WSB-TV that her son was speaking fluent Spanish, something he's never done before. He's still unable to go to school and his family is devastated as it isn't known how much damage has been done.

'Our life has changed through this process,' his mother told the station.

His soccer coach, Bruno Kalonji, told WSB-TV that Rueben stopped breathing several times at the time of the incident. Kalonji said he was in 'shock and panic', adding that Rueben would fade in and out of consciousness and 'he'd start throwing up'.

'You thought you'd might lose him. I thought I might lose him there,' Kalonji said.

Rueben told the station: 'Sometimes I daze out. Sometimes I feel like I'm not there, but I am.'

Upon his return to the game, his coach wants him and other goalkeepers to wear a helmet.

'We should try to prevent these things from happening earlier,' Kalonji said.

Rueben's medical bills have peaked at $200,000, but a GoFundMe account has been set up to help the family offset the cost.

The account, which was set up by friends, says that 'Reuben's seizures have not stopped'.

The passionate soccer player hopes to play professionally one day, but for now he'll continue to stay at home and heal.

A suspected robbery gang has unleashed terror on security guards in Otumara/Ilaje community, in the Costain area of Lagos State, for allegedly preventing them from robbing residents of the community.

The suspected robbery gang members were reportedly armed with cutlasses and knives, among other weapons, and were allegedly led by one Solomon.

Punch Metro reports that that they attacked and injured the guards around 9pm on Friday at a security post in the neighbourhood. One of the guards, who escaped from the scene, called for reinforcement and the chief security officer of the community and other guards moved to the area.

The assailants reportedly took to their heels, but the gang leader, Solomon, was arrested and handed over to the police at the Iponri division.

A resident of the area, who identified himself simply as Rasaq, said the security of the community had recently been beefed up to forestall robbery attacks. He said the attackers were suspected robbers, whose operations had been frustrated by the security guards manning the neighbourhood.

He said, For some months now, we have not witnessed any robbery attack on the community; thanks to the effectiveness of the security guards. They have intensified surveillance at every nook and cranny of this community, which makes us to live peacefully.

However, on Friday, some robbers attacked the guards at their base and injured some of them. The grouse of those miscreants was that they had been deprived of their illegal means of livelihood robbing people and breaking shops.

One of the security guards, who did not want his name in print, said that his injured colleagues had reportedly been discharged from a hospital he was rushed to.

We are working with the police to get other members of the gang arrested, he added.

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS of the Lagos State Police Command, weekend, rescued a 15-year-old girl, who was allegedly abducted and turned into a sex slave by a tricycle operator in Agege area of Lagos.

Arrested alongside the suspect, identified as Dada Azeez, 28, was an alleged accomplice, Wasiu Agunbiade, in whose apartment the teenager was initially kept.

The rescued teenager (names withheld), had N58,000 on her when she was abducted on October 5. The money belonged to her aunt, Mrs Gbemisola.  She was, however, trailed to a one-room apartment at 7, Oseni Street, Danjuma Cinema area of Agege.

The abduction saga took another twist after the suspect, Azeez, 28, claimed that the teenager was his girlfriend. He told the operatives that he had been in a clandestine relationship with the teenager since last year, claiming he abducted her because her aunt was against the relationship.

According to Azeez, we started having a secret affair about a year ago. But her sister frowned at our relationship when she got to know. I bought her a phone through which we communicated, and instructed her to keep it away from her aunty.

Whenever she intended to visit me, she would call and I would describe our meeting place for her. Then I thought it would be better for her to elope with me and started working on her psyche by buying her gifts to lure her into accepting to move in with me.

The day I made up my mind to abduct her coincided with the day she was sent on an errand. I did not know she was with such an amount of money. I only wanted to take her far away from her guardian for not supporting our relationship.

Her story
The teenager alleged that she was used as a sex machine during her stay in Azeezs hideout, saying she agreed to elope with him out of ignorance.

According to her, he forcefully had sex with me on the first day of my arrival and since then, he had been having sex with me without wearing condom. He slept with me anywhere, including at his friends place where he hid me for weeks.

I succumbed to him because I could not go back home. He collected the N58,000, which was a thrift contribution I was going to give to the owner. He fed me three times a day with the money.

I didnt know she was abducted
Accomplice On his part, the alleged accomplice, Agunbiade, admitted that the teenager was kept in his apartment for just a night, claiming he never knew she was abducted.

He said: If I had known she was abducted, I would have advised him to return her to the parents. I never believed he could commit such crime.

He begged me to accommodate them for one night in my room. They left my place the following day to somewhere else. I regretted allowing them to pass the night in my place.

Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmus, said the suspects and the rescued girl had been transferred to the Agege Divisional Police, where the case was initially reported, before the RRS took it up. She warned parents and guardians against exposing their wards and children to social vices in their environment.
The corpse pictured inset is that of a woman who was kidnapped by her driver and some of his friends. They collected a huge ransom from her family - but still went ahead to rape and kill her.

Matter of fact, they didn't kill her immediately. They tied her legs/hands, and gagged her while raping her. After which they dug a deep pit and dumped her inside alive. She suffocated to death.

The woman is reportedly the owner of Chelsea International School - one of the biggest Schools in Abuja.

So sad.

Tears  flowed freely as sympathisers wept uncontrollably, on Tuesday, when they saw mangled bodies of a mother and her twin children after they were crushed by a truck at the popular Oja Oba market in Ibadan South East local council area of Oyo State.

The truck marked AGL883XQ lost control after it had brake failure. When the dust finally settled, it left  in its wake  blood, broken bones and attendant sorrow. Though, the police confirmed the death of four people, eye witnesses said those who were crushed by the truck could not be less than 12.

Among those, who met sudden death was an engineer with the Ibadan Properties, Mr. Monsur Ajedayo, who was crushed while waiting for a taxi by the roadside. Also, some traders, who refused to heed the warning of Governor Abiola Ajimobi to stop roadside trading were among the victims. A relative of Ajedayo, explained that his late cousin had alighted from the car of one of his bosses and was waiting for a taxi when he met his untimely death.

The boss was going somewhere so he dropped him at Mapo. He walked down to Oja Oba to take a taxi when he was crushed by the truck, he said.

Apart from losing many people in the accident, the truck, from which bags of cement were off loaded at Beere area, also ran into waiting tricycles and commercial cars.

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) officials rushed to the scene to rescue survivors. Remains of the dead were taken to the mortuary at Adeoyo Hospital, while the injured were taken to the University College Hospital, Ibadan.

An eye witness, Alhaja Aminat said: The incident happened at 7.45am on Tuesday. As I was about to enter my shop here, I heard people shouting. I first of all ran for my life. Later, I noticed that a driver of a truck was trying to put the truck to rest but he could not do that without running into some vehicles parked along the road.

"About seven Micra cabs fully loaded with passengers and six tricycles with passengers were crushed along its way as the driver was swerving along the road to find a way to stop. The woman, with her twin children, were standing beside the road waiting for Okada (commercial motorcycles) to convey them to school when the truck ran over them, the trader narrated.

Describing the incident as unfortunate, Alhaji Adeyemi Ajimati said: The truck driver, who has killed the innocent souls has escaped. But for the intervention of the security operatives, some irate sympathisers could have caused more havoc if they had set the lorry on fire. But we thank God that it happened this early period of the day when many traders had not set their wares beside the road. Many more could have been crushed to death.

One of those, who escaped being killed by the truck, Fola Omidiran, said: The truck skidded off the road suddenly as it descended the slope, killing a woman and her two children immediately. It also injured many others. From what we heard, the articulated truck had a brake failure. Five tricycles were also crushed in the accident; one of them even caught fire while occupants sustained injuries.

The South West caretaker chairman, Alhaji Rauf Folarin, who visited the scene of the accident thanked God that the road had not been as busy as it used to be when the accident occurred, noting that the casualties recorded would have been more.
